Craig_HunterMarch 17 - Craig Hunter (pictured), England's Chef de Mission at last year's Commonwealth Games, will perform the same role for Britain at the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Trabzon, Turkey from July 23-30, the British Olympic Association (BOA) has announced.

The former swimming team manager, who dealt capably with all the difficulties associated with the Delhi event, particularly in the troubled lead-up to the Games themselves, joined the BOA in November.

Operations manager Louise Whitehead, who has experience of 11 Olympic Games and Youth Festivals, will be Hunter's deputy.

Team GB is expected to be represented by approximately 65 athletes across six Olympic sports.

The EYOF will involve around 4,000 athletes and officials from 49 nations.

"I am honoured to lead the British team of dedicated young athletes in their participation at the 2011 EYOF," said Hunter.

"A number of British Olympians from various sports, including Rebecca Adlington, David Davies, Steph Twell and Craig Fallon, have gained vital experience at the EYOF before graduating to compete for Team GB at the Olympic Games.

"The festival will take place almost exactly a year ahead of London 2012, so there has never been a more exciting time for these young athletes to experience an Olympic environment."
